QuickBooks - Do I Really Have To Upgrade Every Year?

Posted by Beth Thomas on Mon, Jan 04, 2016 @ 08:00 AM

computer-frustration-1238728.jpgEvery year about this time, Intuit releases its annual upgrade of QuickBooks and starts notifying everyone that they need to upgrade to the new version.

It is not necessary to upgrade every year.  We recommend that QuickBooks users upgrade every three years.  This keeps add-on services such as payroll and credit card processing, e-mailing invoices, etc. active.  It also gives us the ability to export Accountant’s Changes to a file you can import into your QuickBooks file, eliminating the need to enter manual year-end adjusting journal entries.

After May 31, 2016, the QuickBooks 2013 Desktop version will be discontinued.  BHTD will be supporting the QuickBooks 2015, 2014, and 2013 versions during the upcoming tax season.  If you are on a 2012 or earlier version, consideration should be given to upgrading now.
