Downtown Greenville Michigan

Located in Montcalm County,  Greenville is a wealth of history and modern amenities.  The annual Danish Festival celebrates the people of Danish origin who populated the area in the middle 1800's. Downtown Greenville was designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1979.  Today, fine dining and shopping experiences can be found Downtown as well as along M-57 to the west.

Hendrick Meijer, founder of Meijer stores, immigrated from the Netherlands in 1907, settling in Greenville in 1912 and opened his first store in Greenville 1934.  Meijer corporation expanded under the management of Frederick Meijer, Hendrick's son, and Meijer stores are now found throughout the Midwest.  The generosity of Fred and his wife Lena helped establish Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park, and the Fred and Lena Meijer Heart Center of Spectrum Health Hospitals in Grand Rapids.
